The sun never sets during the Norwegian summer. Okay, I exaggerate, but only a little. In fact, on the seven nights of my Adventures by Disney trip through Norway, the sun dipped down into a dusk-like state for approximately four hours each evening (and wreaked havoc on my internal alarm clock). All this summer daylight makes Norway an outdoor lover’s paradise.
And our Adventures by Disney travels certainly took advantage of all the outdoor adventure that Norway has to offer. We rafted through glacier-fed rivers in Voss. I even jumped in to feel the refreshing coolness against my skin (and immediately shot out of the water shivering “cold, cold, cold” while channeling my inner Anna from “Frozen”). And then, because apparently the glacial waters gave me short-term memory loss, I did it a second time (channeling my inner Dory from “Finding Nemo”).
We also got up close to a few glaciers by foot and by raft. Clearly Elsa beat us here!

And we canoed, row boated and fished for trout in the most turquoise waters I’ve ever seen (and yes, I’ve been to the Caribbean) at Lake Loen.
But of all the outdoor activities I enjoyed on this Adventures by Disney journey, the most memorable one was spending a day down on the farm. Or, more accurately, “up” on the farm. Norwegians have a rich farming history and, let me tell you, farming in the fjords is no easy task. Farmers face steep climbs and treacherous mountainous terrain as they work from sun up to sun down (which, if you remember what I said earlier, is a really long time) throughout the summer. Here I got to try my hand at sowing and reaping. And pet some sheep, llamas and goats. Behold the cuteness (the animals, not me. Clearly I’m soaked)!

Ah yes, the rain. Norway is known for it, with some regions of the country getting upwards of 250 rainy days each year (the upside is all that gorgeous greenness I referenced in my first post). On this trip, we experienced mostly days full of sunshine and blue skies, but our rainy visit to the farm provided us with an authentic picture of Norwegian farming culture – rain or shine. And it gave me a chance to look like the grim reaper.
From the storybook village of Bergen to fjording), rafting, farming and so much more, my Adventures by Disney Norway trip was truly a remarkable experience I’ll never forget. I hope you enjoyed sharing in this journey with me!
