Walt Disney World Resort Merchandise Event Snapshot – February 2014

February is here! Whether you are heading to Walt Disney World Resort for vacation or for the day, here are some great merchandise events you won’t want to miss.

February 7 – 9: Looking for the perfect gift to pamper your Valentine? Heather Swanepoel from Rinse Bath and Body Co. can help you find just what you’re looking for. Heather will be at Port of Entry in Epcot each day throughout the weekend as she showcases the latest skin moisturizers, facial masks and scented soaps, among other items. My personal favorite: The flavored lip balm. Learn more here.

February 8: Join us for the launch of the Pop of Minnie collection from Beautifully Disney and take part in Mini-Makeovers, or should I say “Minnie”-Makeovers from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Tren-D in Downtown Disney Marketplace. Learn more here.

February 8: Take a walk on the “wild side” with Rosemary Begley who will be on hand to showcase some of her latest pieces of art inspired by Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Meet Rosemary from 1 – 3 p.m. at Disney Outfitters located on Discovery Island. Learn more here.

February 12 – 16: Artist Greg McCullough will be on hand for a special artist showcase at Art of Disney in Epcot. Greg will also be available February 26 – March 2 at Art of Disney in Downtown Disney Marketplace. Learn more here.

February 13 – 14: Precious Moments Doll Maker Linda Rick is back! Be sure to stop in and say hello at Once Upon A Toy in Downtown Disney Marketplace as we celebrate the release of her Valentine’s inspired collection. Look for Linda to make an additional appearance later in the month from February 21 – 23. Learn more here.

February 13 – 17: Internationally known artist Larry Dotson will be appearing daily at the Main Street Cinema in Magic Kingdom Park. Be sure to stop by and say hello as you check out some of Larry’s newest releases. Learn more here.

February 14 – 15: Join us as we welcome Designer, Petra Azar to Tren-D in Downtown Disney Marketplace for a special Valentine’s Weekend trunk show! Find necklaces, earrings and more, for yourself or for the one you love. Meet Petra from 1 – 9 p.m. each day. Learn more here.

February 14 – 21: Are you a fan of David E. Doss? Mark your calendars, David will be appearing daily at Art of Disney in Downtown Disney Marketplace. Stop in and find a new piece of art to add to your collection. Learn more here.

February 22: Make sure to mark your calendar for a special Steampunk artist signing at Art of Disney in Downtown Disney Marketplace as we celebrate the release of artwork and collectibles inspired by turn of the century inventors and writers, as well as artwork inspired by Disney attractions, icons and innovations that have been cultivated from this view of the future from the past. Disney Design Group artists Costa Alavezos, Alex Maher and Mike Sullivan will be on hand from 2 – 5 p.m. to sign their masterpieces.

Celebrate 14 Days of Love: Love is Charming at Disney Parks

As a Dream Maker, I’ve spoken with countless guests who’d love to create a charming moment for their Princess. And, of course, they’d love to express their affection in a chivalrous, superhero type way (without having to wear the tights!). If your sweetheart loves the fairytale, then this post is for you. You may be surprised how easy it may be to unleash the Prince within.

For the romantic at heart, there is nothing more your loved one wants than to experience their very own fairytale brought to life; a world where you are their hero and they become your Princess. So I’ve whipped up this list of “charming tips” that you can experience at home or at the Disney Parks.

Tips to show your charming side:

• Surprise your Belle with love notes – Write notes to your special someone sharing what you love most about them, then leave those notes in surprise locations for them to find throughout their day. Whether it’s on the seat of their car along with a single rose or perhaps in a lunch.
• Become part of their world – Much like Ariel wanted to become part of another world, take interest in spending a portion of your day to become part of your loved ones world. What hobby do they enjoy that you could learn about? Then surprise with a date to do just that.
• Grant three wishes – Become their Genie outside the magic lamp and grant them three wishes. Send three roses representing these three wishes. Keep it small or go all out, it’s up to you!
• Set up a “movie under the stars” – There’s no better romantic lighting than from the moon. Just like the movie under stars here at the Disney resorts, create your own movie under stars at home. Set up a cozy viewing area outside along with your delectable treats and watch a favorite movie together under a moonlit sky.
• Find your own “Paradise Falls” – Just like the movie “UP” … go on an adventure outdoors to find a special location, a place where you can go to talk, share dreams, and spend quality time alone together. You don’t need to wait to find your very own Paradise Falls.

Of course Disney knows all about fairy tales on the screen and in the parks. If you’re interested in creating a personalized Fairytale moment here, then keep reading for an idea to spotlight your charm.

There are so many ways that you can bring the fairytale to life on property. One idea is through a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride for two at Disney’s Port Orleans – Riverside Resort or Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. Create A Fairy Tale by having this gift presented by the driver at the beginning or end of the carriage ride and say, “We’ve found the lady’s slipper.”

Then, let us set up an enchanting Princess In-Room Celebration at your Walt Disney World Resort room! Just when your sweetheart thinks there’s no magic left in the day, you’ll return to your resort room that evening to yet another charming surprise!

Imagine walking up to your resort room door to discover a fairy tale door sash. Then once you open the door, you’ll see rose petals covering the floor, as well as gifts and surprises to declare this moment of enchantment for your loved one. And take a guess at who gets the credit for looking extremely charming? You guessed it, you.

Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl MVP Malcolm Smith Stars in Latest Edition of Famous Disney Parks Commercial

As confetti cascaded tonight at MetLife Stadium following Super Bowl XLVIII in East Rutherford, N.J., Seattle Seahawks linebacker Malcolm Smith looked into television cameras and shouted two of the most famous celebratory lines in ad history: “I’m Going to Disney World!” and “I’m Going to Disneyland!”

Smith, voted the Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl XLVIII, joins a who’s who of athletes and celebrities who have shouted those same words as “When You Wish Upon A Star” played in the background. (Depending on the region the commercial airs, the player either says “I’m Going to Disney World!” or “I’m Going to Disneyland!”). He is the NFL’s first defensive player to star in the commercial.

And Malcolm Smith’s next stop? Magic Kingdom Park, to make good on his post-game proclamation. Current plans (subject to change) call for a celebratory parade through the park on Monday afternoon (parade time TBD, pending final travel details from New York/New Jersey).

Also, there is another special twist to the iconic commercial this year. In a “Frozen first,” Idina Menzel, who voiced Elsa in Disney’s Academy Award®-nominated film “Frozen” and on the hit soundtrack, sings the classic song, “When You Wish Upon a Star,” to accompany the iconic ad.

Take a look for this year’s advertisement in programming across multiple networks, including ABC’s “Good Morning America” and on ESPN’s “SportsCenter.”
