Last week, the Disney Magic wrapped up our season in Europe before setting sail on her transatlantic journey. I had the pleasure of joining the summer's last voyage across the pond—a British Isles cruise with stops in England, Ireland and Scotland—and I want to share with you behind-the-scenes photos of one very special Port Adventure.
A beautiful, sunny day in Scotland welcomed our guests to the medieval Edinburgh Castle. Perched high atop Castle Rock, this centuries-old fortress towers dramatically over the bustling town of Edinburgh, offering breathtaking views of Scotland's capital city. A tour of the castle is a must-do for anyone visiting Edinburgh, and in true Disney fashion, we offer a way to make it entertaining for the entire family.
While parents explored the castle and the history within it, Disney Cruise Line youth counselors accompanied the children to a fun shield-decorating activity where they learned about family coats of arms and their symbolism.
Next, the families came back together for a royal honor only available to Disney Cruise Line guests—a visit and photographs with our favorite Scottish royalty, Princess Merida, who happened to be in town to judge an archery competition. The children were especially inspired by stories of her brave adventures!
One of my favorite parts of my job is being able to bring the magic of Disney to already magical places. This Port Adventure in Scotland is one of those uniquely Disney experiences, and I am proud to say it's one only Disney Cruise Line can offer.
Remember, when the ship's in port, venture ashore!
