Getting to know ‘Coco’ star Anthony Gonzalez

From the studio that made us love the monsters in our closets and rats in our restaurants comes an extraordinary film that celebrates family, remembering our ancestors and following our dreams.

Pixar Animation Studios' "Coco" follows 12-year-old music lover Miguel into the vibrant and colorful Land of the Dead to unlock the truth behind his family's baffling, generations-old ban on music.

Voicing Miguel in the visually stunning film is Anthony Gonzalez, whose rise to stardom included a weeklong stop this summer as a special guest aboard the Disney Vacation Club Member Cruise. Anthony became an instant favorite among our sailing Members, punctuating a behind-the-scenes look at the film with a standout performance of the "Coco" anthem "Remember Me" (written by Academy Award-winners Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez of Frozen fame), sharing personal stories of his work on the film and giving out more hugs to fans than the Mouse who employs me.

Anthony was kind enough to sit down with me – and our Member Cruise camera crew – for a visit in the ship's appropriately themed Animator's Palate restaurant, and I'm pleased to share that conversation with you here. The video includes a quick clip of Anthony's "Remember Me" song number from our voyage, and you can see more of his musical talent in the accompanying video of his surprise performance in the Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort.

See "Coco" in theaters beginning this Wednesday, Nov. 22, and be sure to check out the film's unforgettable soundtrack, available now in stores and for digital download.
