Moms Panel Monday: runDisney as a New Mom

Are you one of the thousands that will be joining us at the Disneyland Resort for runDisney's Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend this May? The event, presented by Pandora Jewelry, will be hosted by none other than Tink herself and her good pal, Peter Pan. The women's-themed 13.1 mile course will take runners through Disneyland Resort and the city of Anaheim, Calif. For the more ambitious runner, like our own Disney Parks Moms Panelist and runDisney specialist, Lindsey M., there is even a Pixie Dust Challenge, which includes the Tinker Bell Half Marathon and the Tinker Bell 10K!

Lindsey, who has officially participated in two runDisney races as a mommy, and many more before her little one arrived, is thrilled about being able to participate in a race weekend in which her little man, Jack, can also participate. "When I was five months pregnant with my little boy I ran the Super Heroes Half Marathon at the Disneyland Resort, and returned to that same race in 2016 with my eight-month-old in tow," said Lindsey. "I'm so incredibly excited to attend my first runDisney event where my little one gets to participate! I am signed up for the Pixie Dust Challenge and Jack, at 14 months-old, will be participating in his first runDisney Kids Race!"

To Lindsey, the Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend seemed like the perfect first runDisney race for Jack, especially since his nursery is Peter Pan-themed. "He already has the Peter Pan hat embroidered with "Jack" from Disney Parks, so I'll be incorporating this into an adorable Peter Pan costume that I'm in the process of making" she said. "As for Momma, I'll be dressing as Smee for one race, which will incorporate some running gear I already have and a couple items I plan to create. For the other, I'll be one of the thousands of Tinker Bells with my glowing wings and of course, my Tinker Bell runDisney New Balance shoes."

As excited as Lindsey is about the costumes, what she truly can't wait to see is her little man toddling his way to the finish line and collecting his very own medal! "While I'm sure he'll love getting to wear his own medal, the fact the Pixie Dust Challenge medal is a spinner, tells me he may be more interested in playing with Momma's," laughed Lindsey.

And of course, no runDisney weekend is complete without some fantastic dining experiences. Lindsey is going all out with her advanced dining reservations, as they will not only be celebrating race weekend, but also Mother's Day!

"On our arrival day I have booked an early dinner at Storytellers Cafe at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa," she said. "After I complete the 10K, and before my little one starts his race, we will be fitting in a breakfast buffet at Goofy's Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel. 'Mickey Mouse Clubhouse' is a constant in our house right now, so Jack gets extremely excited when he sees any of the Fab 5!"

An early dinner is set for Lindsey and her family at Cafe Orleans in New Orleans Square, where she plans on enjoying the infamous Monte Cristo Sandwich. On Mother's Day, after she has completed her 13.1 miles and has collected her medals, Lindsey has made reservations for Breakfast in the Park with Minnie and Friends at Plaza Inn on Main Street, U.S.A.! "I've never eaten at this classic restaurant before, and I'm excited to experience it with my family on such a special day," Lindsey said. "As for the rest of the day, I look forward to watching Jack's face light up at the Character Greetings and on Peter Pan's Flight. For this trip, we plan on taking things easy and just seeing where the day takes us! The only must-do for us is spending time with Jack at the Happiest Place on Earth."
