Protecting Nature and Celebrating Earth Month at Disney Parks Around the World

Here at Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, we celebrate Earth Month every day. From our conservation efforts to our community VoluntEARS projects, our cast members do their part every day to help protect and preserve the environment.

Throughout the month of April, we shared how our cast members worked to make a difference — from tree-planting projects to community cleanups. With more than 60 local events hosted at Disney Parks and Resorts around the world, cast members, crew members and Imagineers were able to learn more about supporting our Company's commitment to resource conservation. Here are some other ways we celebrated Earth Month around the globe.

Shanghai Disney Resort VoluntEARS visited organic farms and put their green thumbs to work in their own adopted gardens

Shanghai Disney Resort cast members got into the spirit with VoluntEARS activities that connected them with nature. Teams visited organic farms and put their green thumbs to work in their own adopted gardens. They also participated in a bird watching competition at the Shanghai Botanical Garden and a green walk at the resort's Wishing Star Park.

In Hong Kong, cast members participated in the Clean Air Network's Airmazing Race, raising awareness about air pollution and how walkability and city planning could help the environment.

Disneyland Paris launched "Disney Life on Earth" to inspire guests to discover and experience the beauty of nature. Using mapping technology, Disneynature images were projected on Sleeping Beauty Castle, right before "Disney Dreams!" And on Earth Day, Disneyland Paris welcomed 150 children from a local nonprofit to take part in a flower-filled pre-parade and enjoy a screening of Disneynature's "Monkey Kingdom."

At Disney Cruise Line, our crew members helped restore and refresh local port communities from the Pine Island Conservation Area in Brevard County to the Cozumel Humane Society in Mexico.

Cast members at Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, in Hawai`i, and Vero Beach in Florida participated in beach cleanups on both sides of the United States. At Vero Beach, cast members and guests helped plant 3,000 sea oat plants to protect the beach from erosion and create a safe environment for sea turtle nesting. Meanwhile, Aulani VoluntEARS partnered with local organizations to clean Piliokahe Beach Park.

At Walt Disney World Resort, cast members donated their time to projects at Lake Louisa State Park, Clean the World and Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando. Guests at Walt Disney World Resort also participated in fun, educational experiences on Earth Day at Party for the Planet at Disney's Animal Kingdom and Earth Day Weekend events throughout Epcot.

On Earth Day, Disneyland Resort surprised the Pacific Marine Mammal Center in Laguna Beach, Calif., with a $60,000 donation as part of its Million Dollar Dazzle philanthropic program

Cast members at many locations also got involved with special Earth Month activities, like art challenges using recycled materials. At Disneyland Resort, guests also joined in on the fun as they voted for their favorite art project in person at the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail.

We're committed to protecting our planet and inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards to do their part, and we're so excited to play a part in preserving the planet for the future. Stay tuned for more great environmental stories from Disney Parks and Resorts.
